Hello. I have a PowerShot SX720 HS that I have had for several years. It has always worked well. About three weeks ago while on vacation, the screen (monitor) stopped working. I hadn't dropped it, gotten it wet, or mistreated it in any way. I've recharged the battery and tried all modes, and it remains dark.
Is this repairable? Or, is there some way to reset it? Any suggestions on a repair service?
Thanks,
Greg

For whatever electronic reason, your display has died. It happens. It's a seven-year-old model and it's highly unlikely that cost of repair would be worthwhile, if anyone could/would do it. You could check out Ebay if you really want another one.

Thanks for letting us know what Canon product you've got. The PowerShot SX720 HS is an older model which we have retired. While that means that Canon USA no longer offers direct support for it, your friends here in the Canon Community are welcome to offer suggestions!
You can also speak with a Canon Upgrade Program specialist to help you score a modern replacement that would meet your current needs at a discount. You can reach them weekdays and Saturdays at 1-866-443-8002.
Hope this helps!

Is there anything visible when turning the camera on? When pressing the "review" button?
Is the camera turning on? Taking pictures? Anything on the memory card when connecting camera to computer?

Thanks for taking an interest. The camera appears to be working. It powers on, the zoom works, and it takes pictures. I have looked at them through the USB link to my laptop.

Thanks. It's a bit disappointing as the camera takes great pictures.

Hello Normadel,
What would be a good replacement camera? What I like about this model is the 40x zoom and the compact size.
Thanks,
Greg

Well, the SX740 HS would be the current direct replacement. The other compact with a real high zoom range is the Powershot SX70 with 65X zoom. This is the only class of cameras offering these kinds of zoom ranges. I am a DSLR user so not a fan of the compacts.
