PowerShot SX50 missing part

Hey all! Recently the plastic covering that goes around where the lens extends (outlined in red in attached photo) seems to have come off of my camera without me noticing- it was having issues sliding off before. Is there a way to get a replacement for this part? Does it have a name I could use when googling? If there are no replacements (it is a pretty old model), is there a way I can MacGyver something to cover this spot? Is it even important to cover? Thank you for any and all advice 🙂

Hello,

The plastic covering you're referring to is generally called a 'lens barrel cover' or sometimes a 'lens hood'. You can try searching online marketplaces like Amazon or eBay for replacements using these terms along with your camera model.

I was going to suggest the Canon Parts Dept., but given the cameras age (13 yrs) and 12MP, its unlikely they are still stocking parts.

The Powershot V1 and EOS R50V are going to announced tonight / tomorrow morning. 🙂  Either would be a wonderful upgrade and both are affordable.
