I have a Powershot D20 that doesn't power on to take photos.
It powers on fine with the "media" button and I can access the menu and media, however with the main power button the on/off led flashes green a few times, the canon logo appears, the led becomes solid for a short time and the device powers off.
The battery is probably okay. Somehow the startup is glitching.
