New batteries drain after only 20 shots (w/o flash) on a PowerShot SX100IS camera! Why?

Welcome Venk!
When and where did you get these new batteries? I think the SX100 is quite an old camera, so are the batteries authentic Canon ones purchased recently? If not, what brand are they?

Venk,
Your PowerShot SX100 IS should be able to get more than 20 shots when using new AA batteries. Try cleaning the contacts on the batteries and inside the battery compartment of the camera to ensure there is a good connection between them. If new AA batteries still do not power the camera longer than 20 shots without flash, then the camera may need to be repaired by our Factory Service Center.
To start your repair process, you'll need to complete a Repair Request on our website.
