I attempted to connect my camera CANON SX510 to my computer and I got a communication error.

I got a communication error when I tried to connect my CANON SX510 to my Mac computer. I have 3000 photos but I have successfully connected before with the same camera and card. Could someone assist me?

1. What version of the Mac OS are you running?
2. Are you connecting via WiFi or USB cable?
3. When during the connection process do you receive the error?
4. Does this error appear if you connect to another computer?
