How do I set my PowerShot sx260 hs to take pictures of the northern lights?

I need this in laymen terms please. I am not in any way a photographer.  I have tried looking it up on the internet, but I do not know how to set my camera to the settings suggested. I am also finding multiple settings suggestions. Can anyone tell me what settings to use, and how to actually set the camera up? I have a Canon PowerShot sx260 HS.
