For a while, my Canon Powershot A560 would tell me to change the batteries. Every time, I would replace the batteries with the required double A batteries but after a while of using the new batteries another "change the batteries" message would pop up. It would always turn on, however. Now, it isn't even turning on. I've changed the batteries many times and I don't know what to do.
Is there a different battery I need to change?

Thanks for letting us know what Canon product you've got. The PowerShot A560 is an older model which we have retired. While that means that Canon USA no longer offers direct support for it, your friends here in the Canon Community are welcome to offer suggestions!
You can also speak with a Canon Upgrade Program specialist to help you score a modern replacement that would meet your current needs at a discount. You can reach them weekdays and Saturdays at 1-866-443-8002.
Hope this helps!

Are the battery holder contacts corroded in the camera?

What kind of batteries are you using?

Store bought double A batteries - like energizer

No, there isn't another battery involved. You have a coin-type CR1220 battery under the main battery cover, but it only exists to maintain the date/time.

This is a 16-year-old camera model. Sounds like it has electronic trouble. Certainly not repairable any more. Consider it as having served out its life.
