PIXMA iP1700 Error 5100

Rukbat

Pixma iP1700 -- Paper jammed, cleared paper without it tearing, now nothing will print, not test page nor when I run print head alignment.  I get message to clear paper jam, but there is no jam.  I can hear document spooling, but when printer attempts to start printing I get error 5100 message.  I have feeling printer is broken and has to be placed.

Hi Rukbat,

I recommend performing a reset of the printer. While the printer is on, unplug the power cord from the printer and let it sit for 60 seconds. While the power is off, press the power button 5 times. After 60 seconds plug the power cord back in and power on the printer.

If that does not resolve the issue the printer would need to be replaced. If the printer is still in it's 1 year warranty from purchase date and you have a copy of the paper or online receipt, please contact our support group at  1-800-OK-CANON (1-800-652-2666), Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM EST.

If the printer is out of warranty, you would qualify for the Canon Upgrade Program.

This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service or are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This program allows you the opportunity to purchase a replacement product discounted from the list price. Free ground shipping is included with your purchase.

If you would like to take advantage of this offer, please call our Sales Department at (866) 443-8002 seven days a week, 8 AM to midnight EST. Let them know you have been working with technical support and that the Canon Upgrade Program was offered.

Mechanical issue.  Paper feeder no longer working.  Purchased new 1700 from e-Bay for $34 incl. shipping and it included two fresh ink cartridges.  My third 1700 in 15 years.  they evidently have a life expectancy of about 7 years.  Not bad for that price.

me too im experiencing error 5100 on my canon ip2770 what to do?
