Canon IP7220 wont print after new print head

MarvinM

So yes after several cleanings and deep cleanings and new printhead the printer still wont print. Only color that prints it's the pgbk black or whatever it's called. The big black ink tank is the only one that prints. This was also happening before the printhead was installed which means that the problem is within the printer. Anybody know what's going on? Thanks.

Thanks and have a great day!

I get no error messages.

The printer just suddenly stopped printing correctly. At first, the cyan colour, then the magenta colour stopped functioning. Several cleanings of print head, nozzle checks etc. Changed printhead and used an entire new set of inks. No change. Two sided printing is faint unless I do duplex manually. Only colour which shows is black from the PGBK cartridge.  What can I do...before all the print cartridges fail to make an impression?

Hi, SENIORRUNNER! The PIXMA iP7220 is an older model which we have retired since this thread started. While that means that Canon USA no longer offers direct support for it, your friends here in the Canon Community are welcome to offer suggestions!

You can also speak with a Canon Upgrade Program specialist to help you score a modern replacement that would meet your current needs at a discount. You can reach them weekdays and Saturdays at 1-866-443-8002.

Hope this helps!

I had, and still have, exactly the same problem you described. I have continued to use it very regularly for material that does not require any input, using different fonts to make any highlights that are needed. I will continue to use it until it finally decides to call it quits. I have stopped using duplex. Nothing comes out on the paper for any of the nozzle checks etc except the big black tank. The print quality (for the PGBK) continues to be excellent, and I will continue until I run out of that ink!  Incidentally, ink from the other tanks become depleted but there is nothing to show for it, except some streaks on some non-moving parts when the cover is opened. Why? Any ideas?

Might there be a question of built-in obsolescence or is there a genuine fault with the print mechanism of the iP7220?

It would be interesting to know why the model was retired, but I fear we will never be told!
