I used to be able to scan from my MF414 to my computer. They are connected to a LAN network. Recently, the scanner stopped being able to do this and says "Connect Computer" if I try to scan to my computer. I am at a loss as to how to reconnect the computer.

My computer is running Windows 10. I was having no problem scanning until a week ago when the scanner started to show a message to connect the computer. Prior to that it would scan to either of my two computers. I do not know how to reconnect the computer because Canon does not provide instructions.

Thank you. I have already consulted these documents and there is no information that addresses my problem. The MF414 and the computer are connected to a LAN and I was able to scan to my computer until two weeks ago when the MF414 started to display the message "Connect Computer." Both machines are already connected.

Greetings,
I understand you believe everything is connected, but the Scan to Destination entry the printer is trying to use does not appear to be valid.
You need to do some investigative troubleshooting. I would suggest deleting and recreating the entries, then retest.

It would be helpful if Canon gave instructions for what to do when the scanner says, "Connect the computer."

Hello,
If the scanner gives you the message to "connect to the computer", it would mean the wrong connection is selected or the computer/printer connection needs to be setup again.
For the computer to work with the scanner over the network, the MFscan utility and the MFdrivers will need to be installed and running properly. You can try downloading and installing the scan utility and the drivers from our support site using the link HERE. Once installed, you can try scanning again using the operation panel using to see if the issue is resolved. If you continue to have scanning issues, I would suggest contacting support over the phone at 1-800-652-2666. Our agents would be happy to check what might be causing the problems.
