Scanner grabbing too many sheets

LisaSal
Apprentice

Just got our scanner working.

Put paper in auto feed and it's grabbing 2-3 pages at a time.

I'm just using standard printer paper.

Product: Imageclass MF642Cdw

I've resorted to simply standing there and holding the next page so it doesn't get fed in with the preceeding page.

That's no way to live!

Please help.

Thank you,

Greetings,

While ocassionally "grippy" the ADF should only grab one page at a time.

How old is the printer?  Purchased new, used, etc?  Did it every work correctly?

Things that can affect this might include:

Overloading the feeder

Not fanning the pages (only applies to a very large number of pages at once)

Incorrect page alighnment (Pages should be neatly stacked, aligned and loaded so they can be fed properly)

Not adjusting the feeder rails to proper width

If new:

Take a quick peek at the ADF feeder making sure all packing materials, shipping tape, etc has been removed.

Thank you.

I think the feeder was over filled!

It's working great now.
