Reconfiguring the fax

When I originally configured the fax settings for my MF743Cdw, I unfortunately configured it as if we don't have an answering machine. Now I need to change that setting but when I touch the FAX icon on the screen there are no options to reconfigure the fax settings. How do I reconfigure the fax settings?

Page 81 looks like a good place to start.

I believe page 81 has to do with the initial configuration of the fax. I need to know how to reconfigure the fax settings after the initial configuration has been completed.

Hi Kenelder,

Please review the pages in the manual for setting up Answering recieve mode:

https://oip.manual.canon/USRMA-3547-zz-SSM-740-enUS/contents/devu-fax-rece.html

1.  Select <Fax> in the Home screen.

If the login screen appears, specify the user name, the password, and the authentication server. Logging in to Authorized Send

2.  Select <RX Mode> in the <TX/RX Settings> tab of the Fax Basic Features screen.

3.  Select the receiving method; Answering Machine.

Answering Machine:
When the call is a fax - After an incoming call rings, the machine receives the fax automatically.
When the call is a telephone call - The answering machine activates, enabling the caller to leave a message. If you pick up the handset before the answering machine starts recording a message, you can talk with the caller.

Please Note:

You need to physcially connect your answering machine to the MF743Cdw  beforehand.

Set the answering machine to answer after a few rings.

We recommend that you add approximately 4 seconds of silence at the beginning of the message or set the maximum recording time to 20 seconds.
