When printing this test page or b/w to my printer, notice the color residue on the page. This happens when I print for my apple iPad or my Microsoft laptop.
however if I do a photo copy the b/w copy is perfect and clean.
any ideas.

It’s Fixed. Changed my toners. Both magenta and blue. And Shazam it worked. Strange as it worked for a long t while but the printer did not report low toner. So glad it’s fixed.

Greetings,
Although your Subject indicates B/W. your windows test page is clearly printing in color. Blue logo, black text.
There can be many causes for this.
Not using Canon branded toner.
Spilling toner when replacing in the carrier. If spilled on the fixing unit, smearing can result. A vacuum or canned air can help.
Forceful removal of a paper jam
Selecting an incorrect paper type
