Hello BDW1,

It looks like the Ifax or fax option is starting if you are getting an error report after scanning. You can try reviewing the steps for scanning from the operation panel using the steps in the link HERE to make sure the settings are correct.

We would be happy to assist with the issue. To provide some feedback or some troubleshooting steps, we would need some additional information. If you could reply to this message with the information below, we can provide some assistance. For a more immediate resolution, you can contact support over the phone at 1-800-652-2666. Our agents would be happy to assist.

  1. What version of the Mac or Windows operating system are you using on your computer?
  2. Are you starting the scan from the software on your computer or is it from the operation panel on the MF743?

Hector,

I have reviewed your comments and can't get it to work.  For clarity, I am not trying to scan to a computer; I am trying to scan to email.  Again, I am scanning from the MF743 directly. I hit scan to email, choose the email from the list, hit apply, start the scan and everything seems fine. It say scanning on the display, it finishes with no issue but then immediately prints a " TX Result Report."   that just says "Error" followed by my email address which is a correct email.  I have tried several different emails addresses to make sure.  I get the error report every time.  Also, I will add that I can scan to an USB stick just fine.  Just cannot get it to scan to email.

How did you resolve, I have the exact same problem.

Greetings,

Receiving a TX Result Report.  This is a FAX specific report.  It can be configured to print after each send operation or only when there is an error.

The same is true for E-Mail/I-Fax/File TX Result Report.

See the settings here:

Sending or receiving Fax, Email or documents to a folder or mail recipient requires additional configuration.  Similar to how you configure a mail client on your computer, your mobile device or iPAD, etc.

Scan to Email requires an email provider.  Example, Gmail, M365, Yahoo, Comcast, etc.  Here is information about the printer configuration.

Scanning (Sending by E-mail) - Canon - imageCLASS MF753Cdw / MF751Cdw - User's Guide (Product Manual...

Please identify the mail provider you plan to use.  At minimum you will need:

SMTP Server name (example Gmail) smtp.gmail.com

Username: typically, the email address of your account

Password: The password you use to log in

Sending Port: (varies by provider) 25, 465, 587

Encryption: normally SSL or TLS

Configuration is best performed in the printer's UI / web server.

Please see my reply in this thread.  It has all the steps for Send to Email configuration.  The interfaces between the printers is the same.  This is for reference. Your settings will differ, but the fields are the same.
