Can printers purchased from Aliexpress be registered for the warranty

Caprso

I'm replacing a 3-year-old Canon laser printer that died. I want to know if a printer purchased from Aliexpress in the US can be registered for the warranty. I've heard horror stories from colleagues about buying from non-authorized resellers and they were unable to register their products. Before I make a big purchase, I want to make sure I can register the product.  Thank you.

Greetings,

Maybe I can answer your questions.  Price variance. Authorized versus non-authorized dealers.  Authorized dealers have to adhere to a pricing structure.  Non-Authorized dealers don't because the merchandise they're selling might  be grey market and could have been illegally imported into the country.  What else can happen when you buy from a non-authorized dealer.  Counterfeit products, garage refurbished items sold as new.  When you buy from a Canon authorized dealer, you have recourse, warranty and the right of return.

Buying from an unauthorized dealer.  When it comes time to register and get warranty, maybe you can, or maybe you can't.  It's not that Canon doesn't want to provide support, but if they can't get parts for a product that was intended for sale in another country, they won't be able to service it locally.  Canon manufacturers products all over the world, not just in one location that all use the same parts.

This is why we don't encourage buying from non-authorized dealers.  It's a risk.  If you want a guarantee, I suggest you buy from an authorized dealer.  Otherwise, there is no way anyone can guarantee what you are buying is authentic, not counterfeit or something that was intended for sale elsewhere.  The choice is yours.  All we can do is inform you of the potential risk or pitfalls.

Hello Caprso,

Thanks for your post! You can find the most up to date list of our Canon Authorized Dealers HERE.

Thanks StevenMOD, but having the authorized deal list does that address the question of whether or not a product sold by AliExpress can be registered? Does Canon only accept product registrations from products sold by authorized resellers, meaning my registration attempt of a product sold by AliExpress would be summarily rejected? AliExpress is similar to a reseller like Amazon that handles third parties, but it is not on your list. (The price difference between AliExpress and many names of authorized dealers is quite significant.)  Thanks for your time and consideration.
