Wide conversion lens weight?

Poldy

I am using EF-M 18-55mm lens.

I am planning to use my old wide conversion lens, something like this:

It fits via 52-58mm adapter, and picture quality is ok.

My concern - this lens is 290g heavy - is this too much?

Thank you.

I don't think it'd damage the lens, but can't say for sure, I've never used anything like that.  I'd put it on gently and move the lens around a little bit and see how much stress it puts on the lens.  Move the focus ring and see if there's extra resistance from the inner barrel pushing against the outer as it slides back and forth.  Just use common sense, it's not going to break it just by putting it on.

These lens are cheap solution to add Tele or Wide parameters to existing lens. There are lens very cheap on ebay, but are also out of focus. This one from sony is good quality and image is great.

I won't use zoom (there is no point of wide) and I will use only manual focus - to shoot star timelapse.

So I belive it is safe to use. If anything breaks, there is already thread "broken filter threads" 🙂
