What's your first L lens?

jaenagle

So from when you got your first (D) SLR camera, when did you get your first L lense?

What was it and what did you have to sacrifice to get it?

All I kept hearing was the advice to spend more on glass than the camera. I headed that advice and got the 70-200 IS 2.8 mkii along with my 7D, which was an upgrade from my T2i & Sigma 17-70.

After that, I got the 17-40 and then the 6D & 24-105 kit.

Sold all my primes. I'm sure I'll get back to them someday, but for now I need the versatility.

6D, 7D, 70-200 f2.82.8 IS mkii, 17-40 f/4, 24-105 f/4, Various Yongnuo Flashes and triggers

i prchased a 70-200 L F/4 a year ago to my T1i ,and after that a 14-40 L f/4. Both great lenses. I got the extenders 1.4X II and 2X.

The 70-200 F/4 is a very nice lens, after a 70-300 IS USM.

Mine was the trust 17-40mm f/4 followed shortly (a couple months) by the 70-200mm f/4.

Next on my list will be the 24-70 f/4 due to the size, weight, and the fact it can be used near macro for the rare times I want/need that ability.

First SLR was the EOS 600 back in '89. First DSLR the EOS 400D in December 2008.

Then in March 2010 I bought my first L lens, the 70-200 f/4 IS. After I bought my 5DII, I also bought the 17-40L

Now looking for a standard zoom, i.e. 24-70 or 24-105 but still in doubt.

My first L lens was the 24-70 f/2.8 on my T1i at that time.

24-105 f4 as part of the 5D MII "kit".

Sold it a year later for the 24-70 f2.8 but not because I didn't like it!  I was just overlapping zoom distances with other lenses.
