So I was going to invest and get the sigma 150-600mm lens I have a rebel sl1. Was wondering if it's a good lens for the camera I have or is it not worth getting it and save up for a better camera then get the lens. Thanks for the help

"I have used one on an XS, which is probably in the ballpark."

Thank you at least one individual with some common sense.

The Canon XS uses the 1080 mAh LP-E5. The SL1 uses the 875 mAh LP-E12.

As for the poster who stated they used larger Canon lenses with the SL1 with no issues, that doesn't mean anything regarding 3rd party lenses. Apples and Oranges.

"...that doesn't mean anything regarding 3rd party lenses."

Maybe not but it doesn't prove they won't work like you all assume with no working knowledge.

Apples and Oranges, maybe peaches.

No one said it would not work. It probably just won’t work as well as it should.  Can a sub-compact car, like a Ford Fiesta, pull a boat trailer with a bass fishing boat?  Yeah, it probably could.

And neither did I.  I said several times now......

"The bottom line.

"No, the problem is, we have not confirmed there is a problem.  There is not.""

You guys sure have a fascination with automobiles.  Remember this is a photography form...at least most of the time.

No, you did not say it would not work.  You simply assumed everyone else believed that, and accused everyone of the same.

Liked automobile analogy, didn’t you? I thought it defined the concept of undersized, and under powered, quite clearly.

Yeah, I will think about it next time I want to pull a boat.  Meanwhile the SL1 folks can enjoy using the 150-600mil zooms.
