OK, stupid question regarding the MFD. We recently purchased a Canon EOS T6 Kit. I have the 75 - 300mm lens and was looking for MFD or Macro on the barrel of the lense. I don't see that. I do see what looks like a flower with 1.5m/4.9ft. I'm assuming that is the MFD.

MFD is about 5 feet for that lens.

You found it. Photographing flowers is a common use for a macro lens. I believe your camera has a Basic shooting mode that uses a Flower on the mode dial.
That shooting mode puts the camera into “Macro” mode, which alters the way it prioritizes exposure settings. It probably uses narrower aperture settings compared to other Basic modes.
