Canon 24mm f1.4 mkii or Canon 24-70 f2.8 mkii

Hey guys, im debating between these two lenses, i know the aperture is really different between the 2, but i was leaning more towards the 24-70 because of its veratility. Has anyone used both and what do you think of both at 24mm?

Thank you.

Your signature says weddings and portraits. You don't say what other lenses you already have. Also, are you using it full frame or crop or both?

For what i do, a 24mm fixed lens would be awfully near-sighted for 90% of shots but that could be different for you. Especially if you have 6 or 7 other great lenses.

I bought a 35mm prime, which is very useful in a lot of shots. I can make it work as a wide or even somewhat close up (within limits) by focusing with my feet.

Why do so many people say "FER-tographer"? Do they take "fertographs"?

Sorry mate, my first time on here, so i've updated my signature.

Also i just ordered the phottix mitro's too....i hope you like them!

I have a 35mm prime already, i need something wider to be fair, but the 24-70 is just a little more about the 24 prime, so thinking of what to do really.

IMHO, this isn't even a choice. The 24-70mm f2.8 is my most favorite lens, ever. Well almost ever!

Especially in combo with the 70-200mm f2.8.

This combo on a 5D Mk III is the dream outfit. It don't get any better. I use that combo all the time and I also do weddings.

I think you will like the Mitros+ flashes. They are solid and the radio trigger interface is very intuitive.

You have some awesome prime lenses but no zooms at all. You might find a zoom useful, especially in that general purpose range.

On the other hand you get so much depth of field on 24mm, even at f/1.4, that it would be tempting to get the prime for being so useful and still easy to compose shots in really low light.

Went for the 24-70 instead... It arrives this week. Thanks for all your feedback guys!
