Hello, I have the Canon dslr Rebel T5. Right now it just has the stock lense on it, but i would like to get something a bit better. I dont know much about lenses or the camera itself but i'm curious about recommendations. I really enjoy taking macro photos , i like to capture close up detail. Can anyone recommend a good place to start??

I'll second that, and I think several others in the forum will too. Years ago I bought my wife one, and she's used it on her XTi, T2i, and now 7D Mark II. It's one of her favorite lenses, and she's gotten great results with it.

Absolutely the Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM Lens was made for you.  I will add to check the Canon refurb store as it may be available there for a nice discount.  It's normal retail price is around $400, refurb will be less.
