My 70-200 f2.8 IS II, is making an awful noise. The motor runs continuously without finding a focus and in the view finder, the screen is jumpy. I put in a new battery, cleaned the contacts, and it worked for maybe 10 shots, then started again. Has anyone had this problem? Being Sunday I can't find a repair shop to ask, so I'm wondering if anyone has had this problem and did you have to send it in to Canon? Do you remember how much it was to get it fixed, because I'm sure mine is out of warranty. Any suggestions or comments are appreciated.

Although the 70-200mm f2.8 is the best lens made, it can fail. It sounds like yours may need service.
Other lenses work on you camera? Yes, no?

Yes. The other lenses work fine. Just the 70-200 is acting up.
