MP Navigator

I am successfullly using a Canoscan 9000F and MP Navigator with Mac OSX 10.13.3.  I have scanned many slides and film strips.  I am saving my files as indicated in Navigator, except that I am using a Desktop folder instead of "Pictures"  When I transfer the IMG scans from desktop folder to Photos , they are transferred in duplicate!  I have to mamually remove the duplicates.  Where am I going wrong here?
