Canon 9950f scanner

jkgla

I have had this great scanner for about 10 years, and do not really want to have to replace it, but it is becoming unreliable.  There seems to be a problem with the USB port on the scanner,  The Canoscan software runs, but cannot detect the scanner.  I clean the USB port ith electrical contact cleaner and reseat the cable, and it works again for a while. I have tried several different USB cables, but keep running into the same problem, which is now happening with unacceptable frequency.

Does anyone know how to replace the USB port on the Canon Scanner - is it possible? Is it cost-effective?  Can you use the Firwire port and link to a PC USB port that way?

Any ideas welcome - especially if they work!!

Hi jkgla,

Please make sure that the power cord is connected directly to a wall outlet and not a surge protector/power strip.  Not getting enough power would cause this to occur as well.

If the issue persists, you are eligible for Canon's Upgrade Program.  This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service, or for some reason are incompatible with a new or upgraded system.  This option allows you a one-time opportunity to purchase a replacement product, discounted from the list price.

To help you get up and running quickly, we also offer free standard shipping (if the order is completed by 12:30PM ET).  If you would like to take part in this option, please call our Sales Department at (866) 443-8002 seven days a week, 8am to Midnight.  Let them know you have been working with technical support and the Canon Upgrade Program was offered.
