I am certain that John Hoffman is 100% correct, provided that you purchase your "refurbished" camera directly from the Canon web site. All of the refurbished cameras and lenses come with a one year warranty, just like new gear.
In fact, I am willing to put more faith in the refurbished gear than the new stuff for one simple reason. I assume that the new stuff comes off of a production line, and is thoroughly tested by some automatic processes. That's fine.. But, the refurbished gear is checked by hand, cleaned, re-assembled, and tested, all by hand. For me, knowing that the gear has had a trained human eye look it over is a confidence builder.
The best part about Canon's refurbished gear is that the stuff even has that new gear smell about it.
