It's kinda like the Ford vs. Chevy thing. Some guys like Ford for the way it does things and some prefer Chevy. Both are actually very good and you can be happy with either.
Personally I prefer Canon and have since 1980. Canon has the most extensive lens line-up of any manufacturer.
If I were you I would shy away from any brand that is not Canon or Nikon. But that is just me. Everything else is, "also rans", and way back in third place.
