Does Canon Image Stabilization (IS) work for video?

Yes, quite a bit! It works in a different way (you don't need to half-press to activate, it's just engaged when the switch is on).

 

IS is incredibly useful for video, particularly when combined with a shoulder rig. It helps calm down the rolling shutter/jello effect.
