should i format my new cf card before using it on my canon 5dmark iii. pls somebdoy help

In the 13 years of shooting with a Canon DSLRs  I've never bothered to format a new card, but of course there's no harm in doing so.

It ensures that the card is formatted to a file system that the camera is capable of supporting and that the camera will use as much of the card as it's capable of recognizing. Having the card work as intended without an initial formatting should be regarded as a lucky break.
