Ravell

Can I trigger my 270EX II anyway with my M100?

Thanks in advance

The M100 by itself can not operate as a "Master" to any Canon "Slave" flash.

You can get a cheapo transceiver pair to trigger your AI wirelessly (radio). The simplest radio pair from Yongnuo is about $30.

The EOS m100 has no hotshoe or has a Wireless radio transmitter to the best of my knowledge.. That’s why I was hoping to use built it flash to optically trigger external off shoe flash for occasions away from home

It seems there is no solution for the M100 unfortunately

"While the camera does feature a built-in pop-up flash, the pop-up flash does not have the ability to communicate with Canon Speedlite flashes"

Sorry 😞

I didn't realize that the M100 had no hotshoe. It will be impossible to trigger your 270EX.

There are many 3rd party flash units with a built-in optical slave that CAN be triggered by the built-in flash of your M100.

The $80 Yongnuo 565EX III is one example.

Thanks all, I was hoping the 270 had that feature to be “optically triggered”. Yongnuo it is, I won’t need it often but would be nice to pack a flash while travelling with the small cam.

Thanks again Rav
