That was his "help". You may not like the answer but that was it. Wait for a different answer if there is one. Perhaps it will be more to your liking. Everyone has different levels of "help".
I would have instructed you to send it to Canon and request a shutter count. It is the only true verifiable accurate one.

Do a search yourself on Yahoo for any EOS shutter count info and you'll find it.
