The 5D4 automatically formats cards in FAT format if 128GB and below. Above 128GB it formats in ExFAT. There is no choice. The thing is, an ExFAT formatted card will allow larger continous video files. Would it be possible to format a 128GB or below card externally in ExFAT and use it in the camera? Any risk to disabling the card?

But I bet the camera will go ahead and create the 2 GB files anyway. That is what my T6S manual says. I doubt that it bases its actual file size on the formatting of the card.
You can go ahead and try it though, you shouldn't hurt anything.
