EOS Rebel T3 gone berserk

nicepace
Apprentice

Shutter button won't "stop halfway" to focus, whether in AF or MF.
Onboard flash pops up when camera is turned on (sometimes - inconsistent).
LCD display doesn't turn on. But when I turn the main dial, the LCD blinks on, briefly.
Camera does take pictures.
Battery is fully charged.

Any ideas?

Hi,
1.). You may have accidentally switched the LCD off. Press the DISP button on the back and toggle through the display settings choices, and see what changes. See page 38 of your manual: http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Owners-Manuals/Canon-EOS-Rebel-T3-1100D-Digital-SLR-Camera-Owners...

2.). Alternatively, the camera has a sensor by the eyepiece that senses when you have your eye on the eyecup, and it turns off the LCD until you pull your eye away. Sometimes, though, the little sensor gets dirty or covered with makeup, or the rubber eye cup shifts position and covers the sensor, and that fools it into thinking you have the camera to your eye, and it will be keeping your LCD from turning on.

Why do so many people say "FER-tographer"? Do they take "fertographs"?

Reset the camera to Canon defaults.  You ca use the "clear all settings" in the menu.
