EOS 7D flash error

I recently got a eos 7d and when I went to use my flash and the error screen saying Cannot display incompatible flash or flash power is off, the flash is compatible and was on and I can’t access any of my external flash settings.

What flash?

It’s a Opteka IF980N

When not using Canon flashes, the amount of integration can be poor to none.

Look to see if opteka has a firmware update. That might be required to make it "compatible".

Your Opteka IF980 flash is supposed to be compatible with both Canon and Nikon.

It should display E-TTL whaen attached to a Canon camera. If it is showing I-TTL it may be deffective.
