Hi all,
First time poster, long time reader... I'm hoping somebody can help me brainstorm this idea
I want to set up my 7D as a sort of security camera when i'm interstate. I plan on setting it up via tether to my desktop and having the files dump straight onto its hard drive. To access that computer i can VDI into it from my laptop when i'm away and change all my features through the EOS or lightroom. I don't want to leave the camera turned on all the time ony when i want to check in and take photo's if need be.
So my question is this, does anyone know how to remote turn on/off the camera when it's connected via tether? or via another setting?
thanks for any tips in advance!

Without a hardware modification I can't see how you could do it.
Have you thought about using a webcam instead of the 7D.

So, in other words, you are afraid about people breaking into your house and stealing stuff. So you want to put the 7D out in plain view so that if someone breaks in you can watch them take your 7D?
