EOS 70D - computer doesn't recognize, and EOS Utiltiy doesn't work

Tomorrow is the deadline to return this POC. I've spent way too much time on this issue and it seems there are many many people who have also done so. First problem is Autoplay does not pop up which means the device is not recognized. Yes, I've tried all the ports. Yes, Autoplay is set to always ask with a device. I tried my Powershot and Autoplay works and it opens EOS Utility. But EOS utility is greyed out. I've called Canon support went thru everything, even installed the patch for the Utility.  No luck. Uninstalled just the Utilty and re-installed - Nada. Saw a message on some forum about hidden cannon config files..will look later as my pc is now being used for homework. But thought i'd give one last gasp, to see if anyone has a silver bullet.

Have seen lots of posts about buying a card reader - Will Canon supply a card reader? Doubtful..not one more red cent from me...

btw Window 7 sp1, EOS solution disk 28.2 + patch.

Okay I don't understand how that had anything to do with the thread ? Some of us use dieerent Smartphones and use different softeware than what came with our equipment.  Pretty Sure when I answered this thread I was just trying to get my camera to speak to my computer ... I definately was not looking for another program

I can't compare because I don't have a 70D but the DSLR controller is definitely an excellent app for the $7.99.

It works wirelessly too. I enable wifi direct feature, connect the Galaxy S5 to the camera and tether it to the tablet.

Nice.

I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY I MUST PAY 7.99 FOR YOUR APP WHEN THE QUESTION WAS HOW CAN I MAKE THE TWO ITEMS TALK TOGETHER ... my issue was solved without me having to pay or compromise my credit card

Could anyone please explain how exactly to do that? When disable WIFI of course there will be no connection. I disabled it and WIFI Function menu disabled also.
My camera is 70d

Wow a thread that started two years ago and still going. Something as simple as disabling wifi.

The action is simple, however what happens when that doesn't work?

Tried, tried, and tried again but this doesn't work for me.   My Wifi is not highlighted anymore in the menu also.  Anyone with a Plan B that may have worked??

Registered just to let you know I was having the same problems after a computer upgrade. Turned off Wi-Fi, updated EOS utility, took a .net update for Windows and nothing helped.

Then I tried plugging into the rear USB ports instead of the ones on the front of the PC.

Solved.

Give it a shot.
