Does a 1066x CF card have speed difference to a 800x on a 5D Mark II? Is there a limiting factor that I should have in mind in order to avoid unecessary expenses?

Sorry, I missed that in your first post. Here is the data for the 5D Mk II:    http://www.robgalbraith.com/camera_wb_multi_paged527.html?cid=6007-9784

(the drop down menu at the top lets you choose from many different cameras)

With a 400x 60MB/s card the write speeds max out at about 30MB/s.

With a 1000x 150MB/s card the write speeds max out at about 50MB/s.

Both are very fast cards and I doubt you will see any difference.   This website shows the effective 5D Mk III write speeds obtained with various cards: http://www.robgalbraith.com/camera_wb_multi_page7de5.html?cid=6007-12452

133x = 20MB/s
200x = 30MB/s
266x = 40MB/s
300x = 45MB/s
333x = 50MB/s
400x = 60MB/s
600x = 90MB/s
666x = 100MB/s

700x=137MB/s
800x=120MB/s
900x=135MB/s

1000x=150MB/s
1066x=160MB/s

Thanks Mike, nevertheless I've been told that 5D Mark II's data throughput cannot reach such high speeds and therefore anything faster than 800x is useless. Any truth in that..?

If you look at the website link you will see that faster cards do give faster throughput in the 5D. But not at the rated card speed.

Mike this link is refering to 5D Mark III not Mark II...
