6d won't adjust aperture in photo mode

Both my 6d and 6d mark II will not adjust the iris in photo mode using the canon EF lenses or L lenses.

I have tried both aperture lock and factory reset. I can adjust the iris in video mode but not photo.

The aperture (iris) is only stopped down (adjusted) when the photo is taken.

Select a long shutter speed (like 2 seconds) and then watch the aperture as you take the photo.

The Depth Of Field preview button will also momentarily stop down the aperture. Select a small aperture like f/16 and then press the button to see the aperture stop down.

Thank You.

Most of the “photo modes” do not allow you to adjust aperture.  It is automatically set by the camera.
