5D MK IV serial No issue

BWDenver
Apprentice

I just bought a 5D Mk IV from a US dealer and when I tried to register the camera with Conon, I got a message that the Serial No does not match their records.

The number allowed me to download SW and a FEW update, but I still can register the camera. When I bought the camera I avoided sales that indicated they were Gray Marker.

Serial No [Mod Note: Serial Number Removed Per Forum Guidelines]

Any ideas???

Do you see the same serial number on the camera body, the box it came in and on the EXIF data from your photos?

I geenreally shy away from Gray market items, prefering US products in most things.

Was not looking on saving a buck, but the price seemed right, and a number of other Amazon sites listed their products as Gray, at a significant savings.

At the moment Canon is having issues registering seral No's, I called them today.  If it's a gray market camera it's going back.

Most if my shooting these days are birds.  This weekend it's treck south and Sandhill cranes.
