does a 58mm uv filter for canon t5i fit a Canon t5

I actually have two questions, but this is part one. I'm looking to get uv filters for my t5 lenses to keep them safe. I'm almost sure that a 58mm uv lens will fit on my canon but I want to double check before I order something on line and it will be a hassle to return. Most for the discriptions say for t4i t5i and so on but doesn't say t5, will a uv filter intended to fit a t5i fit a t5.

Part two
One of my cameras is a Canon slr t70 from 1984 I have two lenses from that camera. Just out of curiosity can I fit older leneses on a newer body. I sort of now the answer but want to know if there's a way it is possible, if there's an adapter of sorts. It's just to much money to develop film

The 58mm is your filter size (diameter).  Both of those lenses use a 58mm filter.  So a 58mm filter will fit both lenses.

Why do so many people say "FER-tographer"? Do they take "fertographs"?

Sorry, the FD lenses that worked on the T70 will not work* on your T5i. Your camera will work with all EF and EF-S lenses. As for the 58mm filter, it depends on your lens.

* Of course, there are adapters you can get, but it is not worth it.

Ok so for the first question do you know if the t5i uv filter will fit on t5 lens. Are t5 and t5i the same thing when it comes to leneses

Yes, the T5 and T5i will use the same EF-S and EF lenses, but that has nothing to do with the UV filter. We need to know which lens you have.

T5 and T5i have the same lens mount. Any lens that fits one will fit the other.

Both can use EF mount lenses and EF-s lenses.

The uv filter goes on the end of the lens, not on the camera.  Lenses that fit the T5 will also fit the T5i.  58mm is a common filter size.

What lenses do you have?  It is a matter of seeing what filter size each lens takes.

The 75mm-300mm is a EF 58mm lens and the 18mm-55mm is an EF-S lens.

The 58mm is your filter size (diameter).  Both of those lenses use a 58mm filter.  So a 58mm filter will fit both lenses.

In general, any lens that's threaded for a screw-in filter will tell you what filter size it takes. Often you can read it right on the front of the lens. I think it's always at least near the front end.
