Re: compact flas card problem

Is this the camera:  http://usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/eos_slr_camera_systems/eos_digital_slr_cameras/eos_digita...

If so, exactly which CF card are you using and what is it's capacity?

I ask, because back when that camera was new, a high capacity card might be 128MB.  Doing a bit of digging, I found some information that suggests the maximum capacity card that it can handle is only 8GB.

Make sure your card isn't a higher capacity than the camera can handle.

"I put a new compact flash card in ..."

Besides what size, what brand did you "put in"?  It never pays to buy cheap CF cards.  High capacity CF cards are a bad idea all the way around.
