Upgrading Camera

I currently have an XTi with 2 EF lenses,  28-135, 18-55, both of which I plan to keep.  I want some advice on one of 3 cameras to upgrade to: T3i, T4i, 60D.  I am not a professional, rather a serious amateur who is concerned with optimal photo quality. I am not serious enough to spend more than $1000 on a camera.

I also own a Canon HG 10 HDD viseo camera which I use, but I am attracted to using 1 camera for both.  - Any advice from someone woud be appreciated

Welcome zheard!

What specific question did you have about the differences between those three models?  There are so many ways to compare them that it doesn't make sense for us to start from nowhere.

First, have you compared the straight specs and features?

Then, even considering the specs and features, what kind of still do you want to shoot, specifically?  Other than video capability, what do you hope to get out of your upgrade that you can't do with your XTi?

Here's a comparison of the T4i vs 60D, but depending on what kind of photography you're interested in, only certain advice may apply:

Re: Upgrading Camera

The 60D is the better camera, & costs more because it has features the Rebel series doesn't. The real question is whether you need them or will use them. If you're the kind of shooter that shoots in any of the Auto or Program Modes including modes like Sport, Night, Scene etc then you probably won't benefit one bit by buying the 60D over the T3i. If however you're into shooting old school using Tv, Av or M then you really need to learn which body will meet your needs for a few years & learn how to get the most out of it.

Re: Upgrading Camera

Having a 60d and a T2i, I would get the 60d with hindsight being 20/20. The T2i was and is a great camera but I picked up a 60d because I found I "grew out" of the limited features faster than I would a 60d. The ISO 3rd increments, better viewfinder, shutter, customization, battery, top LCD, bigger grip, etc...

If I can get a 60d for less than or equal to the price of a T4i, I take the 60d every time. A T3i is fine but you'll probably grow out of it pretty quickly compared to the 60d.
