T5i Camera not focusing- Help please.

Hello, I have a Canon EOS Rebel T5i and I am having some trouble with it.
Whenever I try to use it, be it video or take a picture, it's ALWAYS out of focus. As if the lens was made out of some thick gel. I can't find out how to fix it. Everything is just so blurry and you cant even tell what the object is through the screen/picture. If anyone can help, that would be great.
Thanks & have a nice day.

Three easy checks you should do:

1. Take a look at the lens...there should be a switch marked AUTO/M. Make sure it's on the AUTO side otherwise your lens auto-focus is turned off.

2. Make sure you don't have the Shutter Button being disconnected from Auto-Focus (Back button focus).  One easy way is to reset the camera back to factory default settings.

3. Make sure you are not too close to the subjects.  Every lens needs a certain distance for the auto-focus to work.

Switch on lens is AF/MF.  You want AF (Autofocus).

Why do so many people say "FER-tographer"? Do they take "fertographs"?
