SD Card Error on XSi

while taking a sequence of photos with my XSi while on vacation this morning, I got a card error referring to my SD card needing to be reformatted. This was a 32gb card which had about 8-10gb left. After reinserting the card, the error message changed to "Cannot Create File Folder" and upon plugging in the card to a computer via two different sources there were no photos showing. Is there any way to recover my photos? I've found a lot about this issue, but nothing about it occurring while actually taking shots. Thanks!

Re: SD Card Error on XSi

Search for Photorec to recover your pictures. It is open source and free to use.
After that low level format your card in the camera. If you still get problems buy another card
