Is it possible to remove the battery door from the Rebel T8i, I want to use a battery grip but can't get the door off in the same way I have on previous rebel bodies.

No. The battery door on the T8i isn't removable.

Canon made the T8i battery door non-removable because they do not offer a Battery Grip for this camera.

To remove the door you must remove some body screws and pry apart the body until you can remove the door.

If you do decide to use a 3rd party grip, you will need to use an additional shutter release cable in order to use the vertical shutter button.

There is a reason Canon did not see fit to design a grip for the T8i.

Don't, it is a bad idea. The quality and reliability of off brand grips is questionable to the point of damaging your T8i. If damage is caused by the grip it will not be covered by your Canon warranty. You might say they seem to work but when they don't...
