My Computer isn't Recognizing my Camera

grisgin

I have a Canon Rebel t5i, and when I connect it to my mac it doesn't recognize it. It's like I'm connecting nothing to my computer. This problem happened a few times before, but has always seemed to fix itself before this. I've tried restarting my computer, and when I look at my USB tree it isn't recognized there either. I'm not sure how to fix this please help!

Hi Grisgin,

Thank you for posting.

To allow us to better assist you, please let us know the following:

  1. Which operating system do you have on your computer?
  2. Have you tried the connection with more than one USB cable?
  3. Are you plugging your camera into a USB hub (not recommended) or directly into your computer (recommended)?

With your camera connected to your computer and powered on:

  1. What do you see on your camera's display?
  2. Does your computer respond at all (i.e. with beeps, windows, etc)?

Additional, what about the USB cable. It is now possible to get USB "charging" cables that dont have the data pins wired. Are you using a proper cable?
