I may just have a defective camera. Literally started it up this morning - followed all directions, including suggestions on pressing Info button repeatedly to ensure that it wasn't on LCD Off, cleaned rubber eye piece and made sure it was in place. It's simply not turning on.
Send it back or is there something else I haven't thought of?

You didn't mention what camera. You are sure you " followed all directions" and tried everything?
Then your next move is call Canon at 1 (800) 652-2666

Make sure the battery door and memory card door are closed and secure, too.
