External Flash issue

Hello all,

I have a Canon Rebel t5. I’m trying to get my external flash to work, but in the external flash function setting it states, “Menu not available. Flash is off or unsupported, or an accessory is attached.”

Any ideas on how to fix it? I feel like I have trouble shooted everything!

What make and model flash are you using?

Try mounting the flash, and turning it on before you turn on the camera.

The answer to both your questions is Canon Speedlite 430EX III-RT.  You have a manual flash that is not made by Canon?  That's your problem which will disappear with the Canon flash.

What brand of flash is it? Is it an ETTL or a manual flash?
