This is a fact. Unless you have tried to use other camera makers warranty you don't know how good Canon really is.  I do admit that some of the others have gotten better but not yet to Canon standards.

While your warranty may have expired you probably (?) used a credit card to buy the camera. Nearly all credit cards include extended warranty as part of their benefits. You likely have  another year of coverage. Check and see since you might find you are not out of luck. canon service is great. I have a lot of canon gear... and have been to their facilities
