Convert T4i videos into smaller files

I am a new owner of a T4i, I was testing recording video and noticed that a 3 minute clip generated a 1 Gig MOV file. I think this is too large and I have seen videos (e.g. MKV movies, etc) that have similar quality with much smaller sizes.

I there a way I can generate smaller files with similar quality? Or, what is the best way to convert my MOV files into something that has better compression?

You may use the included ImageBrowser EX software to reduce the size of your movies.
