Canon T5 acting up while using Rode Mic

I have had the Canon T5 for 3 years now, i just got a Rode mic for Christmas and when i hooked it into my camera the camera started acting super odd. Randomly taking photos, not recording video etc, I'm very worried as i film audio clips always. Anyone have the same/ similar issue with a solution? I'm not sure what to do.

Your camera should “act up”.  The Rebel T5 does not have an external mic input.  What might like a mic input, is actuall a remote shutter input jack.  I suggest that you unplug the microphone before damage the camera or the microphone.
